Audi A1 / Q3 Rear Tail Light Plug (Pre-Wired): Pin Order, Fitment Checks & Installation

Swapping rear lamps or repairing a damaged plug? A pre-wired connector speeds the job and avoids reusing heat-hardened housings. Use this checklist to get pin order, sealing and strain relief right the first time.

Before You Start

  • Confirm the plug keying visually against your lamp module.
  • Note wire colours and functions on your car before cutting the old plug.
  • Have loom tape, heat-shrink and a quality crimp tool ready.

Installation Steps

  1. Disconnect battery or disable rear lighting circuit.
  2. Label the old wires by function (tail, brake, indicator, reverse, earth).
  3. Join the pre-wired leads to the vehicle harness using proper open-barrel crimps or sealed butt splices.
  4. Add strain relief and route the harness to avoid sharp edges or standing water.

Quality Check

Cycle the lamps (tail, brake, indicators, reverse) while gently flexing the harness—no flicker or drop-outs should occur.
